· The Government has consistently supported families in the face of global high inflation through the £94 billion cost of living support package including 26 million payments through the Household Support Fund.
· That is why the Government has launched Household Support Fund Awareness Week this week to raise awareness of support provided to local authorities to help low income households with the cost of living.
· The Government is taking the long-term decisions to deliver on the Prime Minister’s priority to halve inflation, while also providing support for vulnerable households.
Sadly in Crawley, one only has to step outside one’s front door for a few feet, to see the mess of discarded cigarettes ends. Our smoking rates in Crawley are much higher than the rest of West Sussex and our littering problem worse. It is estimated that 2/3rds of a million cigarettes butts are littered in Britain every day, many on our streets. Smoking is one of our biggest littering menaces and also one of the biggest preventable causes of accidental fires. Smoking pollutes the air and our environment.
Many congratulations to Councillor Zack Ali on being selected as the Conservative and Unionist Party PPC (Prospective Parliamentary Candidate) for Crawley.
While we should always endeavour to have the best possible public transport and viable options to be able to not travel by car, I very much welcome that our Conservative Prime Minister has come out clearly on the side of the freedom of people to use their cars, to stop the demonisation of motorists, and to have polices designed to assist motorists, such as greater investment in maintaining our road network.
While others seek short-term political advantage to suit the flavour of the day, most notably the leader of the Labour Party, who has evolved from ‘Captain Hindsight’ to ‘Captain Flip Flop’, the Conservative Government is rightly getting on and focusing on the long-term issues that are important for our country - a vital one being defence.
