Brenda Burgess

Brenda has worked as a dress designer, a part time youth worker and as a teacher in both primary and further education. Brenda has been a member of Crawley Borough Council since 2004 and is a former Mayor. Brenda is a member of local musical theatre and Scottish country dance societies and is a member of the Ifield Barn Arts Centre/Theatre. Brenda is married with two children and two young grandchildren. She is a volunteer at St Catherine’s Hospice, a member of St Richard’s Church and is a Guiding Ambassador.

Richard Burrett

Richard Burrett has been a member of the County Council since 2009, and has also been a member of Crawley Borough Council since 1992. He served as a Cabinet Member throughout the period during which Crawley Borough Council was Conservative controlled, from 2006 to 2014. Richard was appointed to the County Council’s Cabinet in December 2015, and was previously the Chairman of the Children and Young People’s Services Select Committee.

Richard has always had a particular interest in all matters relating to education, and served as a School Governor in Crawley for over 20 years. He has been Chair of the Governing Body at a large Primary School, and Vice-Chair of the Governing Body of a Secondary School, as well as having been a member of Sussex University’s Annual Forum since 2006. He is also a trustee of Crawley Open House and of the Gatwick Airport Community Trust, and was previously a Non-Executive Director of the former Crawley Primary Care Trust. He is a long-serving representative on South-East Employers, and has also previously served on a variety of LGA Boards and Panels concerned with local government staffing issues.

Outside of politics, Richard's interests include music, walking, and exploring the countryside.

Duncan Crow

Duncan Crow was first elected as county councillor for Tilgate and Furnace Green in 2005 and then subsequently in 2009 and 2013. Duncan is the Chairman of the Planning Committee and is a member of the West Sussex Local Access Forum that looks at access to the countryside.

Locally, he is a governor at St Andrews Primary School and represents the County Council on the Crawley Town Centre Partnership. He also represents Furnace Green on Crawley Borough Council where he is currently Leader of the Opposition.
