Henry Smith, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Crawley, has welcomed the latest figures showing that Help to Buy, the Conservative scheme to help people access an affordable mortgage with a small deposit, has helped 169 families to buy their own home in Crawley. Henry said; “I am pleased that the latest stats show that more Crawley families are being helped onto the housing ladder with the Help to Buy scheme. “Conservative policies have meant 169 families have been able to buy their own home in Crawley since 2010 through Help to Buy. “I want this to go further and extend Help to Buy, help people save for a deposit, build thousands of new homes for first-time buyers and extend the Right to Buy to tenants of Housing Associations.” A Conservative majority government will go further over the next five years by:
- Extending Help to Buy
- Building 200,000 discounted Starter Homes for first-time buyers
- Creating Help to Buy ISAs to help people save for a deposit
- Keeping interest rates low so mortgages are affordable
- Extend the Right to Buy to Housing Association tenants.
Henry continued; “I recently went to see Forge Wood, our town’s 14th neighbourhood, which will provide 1,900 new homes. “Conservative policies are helping Crawley families onto the housing ladder. I want to see this opportunity continue.” Across the country, Help to Buy has now meant over 90,000 families have been able to buy their own home, with over 80 per cent of sales going to first-time buyers.
