Leacroft Medical Practice, on Langley Drive, suffered serious damage to its roof over the Christmas period during the severe weather and has consequently had to put alternative measures in place for its patients.
On the evening of Monday December 23 2013 the roof of the practice was partially torn off by strong winds, with the result that heavy rain entered about half the building. This left extensive water damage over two floors and rendered the building unusable.
Crawley MP, Henry Smith, said:
“I thank Leacroft GP surgery staff for working very hard to minimise disruption to patients following the severe weather damage caused to the building over Christmas and I welcome the NHS commitment to rebuild this Langley Green practice.
“In the meantime some alternative services are being provided to local patients from Crawley Hospital which I support but even after Leacroft is fully reopened I think this temporary West Green outpost should be continued as the neighbourhood has been inconvenienced since Leafcroft closed its nearby site.
“I believe out of this temporary disruption a long term better GP service can emerge for both Langley Green at Leafcroft and West Green at Crawley Hospital if planned now.”

Notes
Leacroft Medical Practice has taken steps to ensure that a service is available to patients in the short term. It has secured space and facilities to provide care from the Southgate practice and Crawley Hospital, and has worked directly with nearby care homes to ensure residents have access to advice and prescriptions if required.
The Surrey and Sussex Area Team, local CCGs and NHS Property Services are assisting the practice to find suitable accommodation until the Langley Drive premises have been repaired.
