Crawley MP, Henry Smith, has nominated local charity, Outreach 3Way, for this year’s Lloyd’s Bank Community Fund award.
Commenting on his support for the Ifield based social action project, Henry said:
“I’ve nominated Outreach 3Way because they are a great local charity that support more than 140 people with learning disabilities each week at their Ifield Day Centre and manage a range of homes and supported living options.
“The staff and volunteers that assist Outreach do so much to help individuals with learning disabilities and autism, but what matters most to those they support is that they are seen as people first and believe they have the same rights to respect and opportunities as everyone else. Priding themselves on their ability to offer the personal touch, the charity provides an invaluable social action project that engages widely across local communities.
“I’ve been touched by the dedicated, passionate service that Outreach 3Way offers my local constituents. I’ve come to rely on their input when it comes to offering support to constituents who are in need of assistance but above all the opportunity to contribute towards and feel a part of their local community.”
Outreach 3Way is part of Dimensions, the nationwide not-for-profit organisation that supports people with learning disabilities and autism across England and Wales. The aim is to enable people to be part of the community and make their own choices and decisions about their life.
Through Work Matters, Outreach 3 Way can also supply an efficient and reliable service to local companies, handling packing, sorting, collating, sticking on labels and stuffing envelopes. The work has a recycling focus, working in partnership with a local waste management company for more than ten years.
In the safety and security of their Crawley workshop, adults with learning disabilities learn and practise skills such as counting or sorting different items by size, colour or shape. Individuals are supported by sensitive, experienced staff. The programme helps people gain the confidence, experience and self-esteem that paid work can bring.
