Crawley MP welcomes £210,000 of Investment in Town's Railway Stations

Henry Smith MP has welcomed projects which will benefit local rail passengers at Three Bridges, Crawley and Ifield stations, which have been allocated a total of £210,000 through the Govia Thameslink Railway Passenger Benefit Fund.

Projects at the stations include improvements to customer waiting areas and facilities, in addition to at least one defibrillator at each station.

Henry said;

“My thanks to the Department for Transport and Govia Thameslink Railway for their continued work delivering these improvements for local rail passengers.

“Following representations from local MPs standing up for passengers it was right to ensure that rail users had a say in this process, with GTR collating ideas before submitting them to the Department for Transport for final approval.

“I’m grateful to all who are working on getting these projects in place particularly during the pandemic restrictions.”

Crawley Station was allocated £50,000 and has seen enhanced seating already installed, with improvements to the waiting area with heating as well as a defibrillator set for completion in April.

The £80,000 allocation for improvements at Ifield Station will see a waiting shelter, customer information screen and a defibrillator set to be ready for use next month.

Three Bridges Station, also allocated £80,000, has seen improvements to seating as well as toilet facilities, with a waiting shelter and two defibrillators set for completion in the coming weeks.
