Crawley MP urges Local Small Businesses to seek Free Advice

Henry Smith MP has given his support to Business Debtline, a charity-run service offering free impartial debt advice to small businesses and the self-employed, and has encouraged Crawley firms to take advantage of the free advice and guidance which is on offer.

A Modern Industrial Strategy

Two weeks ago, Theresa May announced proposals for a modern Industrial Strategy. In a rapidly changing world, it is right to try and be ahead of the curve and have a long-term plan for industry and employment. History has shown that where we have been slow to react to changes and advancements in technology, the country has suffered or missed opportunities. Our economy underpins all the public services that are delivered at both a national and a local level and I take the view that if you really care about public services, you also need to care about the economy that pays for them.

Defence Investment in Crawley

I was very pleased to see that part of the £410 million RAF military transport contract has been awarded to defence contractor Thales, which has a major site at Manor Royal here in Crawley. This contract is a further boost for our local economy and is further evidence that Crawley continues to prosper after the Brexit vote. This contract is a sign of the Conservative government investing in our Armed Forces, in the UK defence industry and in Crawley. In stark contrast, Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour councillors at Crawley Town Hall have an ongoing boycott against the British Defence Industry, including disgracefully against companies here in Crawley.

Crawley MP Hails NCS Graduates

Henry Smith MP was at the Checkatrade.com Stadium on Friday evening (25th November) to honour graduates of the Crawley Town Community Foundation’s Autumn 2016 National Citizen Service programme.
