Best Satisfaction Figures for Leisure Services

Sport England has undertaken a national ‘Active People Survey’.  In each of the 253 local councils, 1,000 residents over 16 years of age were questioned.  Crawley came out top with the highest satisfaction rating of 83%.

This is a great achievement and reflects the effective operation of our comprehensive leisure facilities.

Crawley becomes Cleaner and Greener

Crawley’s recycling rate has improved again.  The provisional figure for 2006/07 quarters one and two is 24.56% excluding green garden waste.  This figure rises to around 30% when we add the contribution of the new County Oak Household Waste Recycling Facility.

Crawley has the lowest amount of waste collected per head of population in West Sussex at just 332.6 kg (2004/05) and this puts in 9th place nationally.

There has been a 40% reduction in customers reporting missed rubbish and recycling collections to the Council’s Contact Centre as compared to 2005/06.

There has been a 19% reduction in missed bins compared to 2005/06.

Every neighbourhood now has street cleansing at least every two months instead of every four months previously.

There has been a significant reduction in the number of requests for street scene services this year:

             dealing with abandoned vehicles

             dealing with fly tipping

             issues with trees and woodlands

issues with parks, gardens, shrubs and hedges

             grass cutting

This reflects the impact of increased Council investment in the service.

We now have a Graffiti Team formed in partnership with Crawley Homes and West Sussex County Council.  It takes a ‘clear-all’ approach to the problem of graffiti within Crawley regardless of land / property ownership.
